New brain required. stat.
Arrgh. The World Archaeology course is not going well. My brain? Obviously deficient.
(Hysterical whinging about academic stressing to follow... therefore, (hopefully), a helpful cut.
So here's the thing... I like the learning of new and interesting things, 'tis fun and lovely. And despite complaints from other students on this course, I like the course book. (It's a big bastard, but once you get used to it, it's ok.)
And yet. There's something about the essays required that make me run screaming every time. It's a case of staring at the screen, staring at the question, then completely shutting down all sensible faculties in favour of a desire to huddle into a rocking ball muttering 'can't do it' for several hours on end. (Which, actually, I kind of did after the computer crashed and ate my first essay just before I was about to submit it. Meaning having to the write the whole thing from scratch, because, of course, nothing saved. And I was idiot enough to do my notes straight in the essay document, so they disappeared too. And I couldn't string a coherent sentence together, let alone something in relevant academic prose. And it was too late to ask for an extension. And... Um. Yeah. Fun times.)
And the final essay for the coursework portion is due Friday and if I can't pull a decent pass mark for it, it'll mean a fail of the whole course. (So, no pressure there then!) Which I knew when I started writing the idiot thing last week. But they want sensible inclusions of internet research for part of the mark. Which shouldn't be a problem, except, dear god, the amount of online papers you have to read through before you find one that's even vaguely relevant....
Excuse me while I have a minor meltdown. (Smacking self upside the head does not help in the slightest.)
